The NextWave Performance "Go Green" Policy

Every year approximately 4 billion trees are cut down to make paper.  4 billion.  Combine that with the ever growing power requirements of our planet and you have a problem.

At NextWave Performance, we instituted a "Go Green" policy when the company was formed back in 2005.  What does this mean?  Here's a sample:

  • Minimal printing of documents:  We distribute more than 95% of our documents electronically instead of printing.  For contracts and legal documents, we use tools like EchoSign to eliminate the need for paper.
  • Solar & Wind Power:  Our workspace is powered by a combination of solar (40% of power requirements) and wind power (via the WindSource program).  We also use a web hosting provider that is Green-e certified renewable and TerraPass certified carbon-balanced.
  • Recycling & Re-use:  We recycle everything we can.  We've also implemented a policy of eliminating paper coffee cups in favor of re-usable cups.
  • All cloud, all the time:  Rather than storing documents on CDs or DVDs, we use secure cloud-based storage exclusively.  Our software (NextWave360) is also cloud-based and multi-tenant to eliminate the need to purchase servers and reduce power requirements.

We hope you will consider implementing a program like the NextWave Go Green policy at your own place of work.  It's not only good for the planet, but you'll find it helps your bottom-line as well.
